Dear editor:
In response to Mr. Schilling’s letter, my vote for a name for the May 8 storm is to call it what it was — a derecho. It was an unusual and rare event for Carbondale, one we may never experience again (I hope). No one has heard of it before? What an educational moment! It is a very interesting occurrence to discuss.
No matter what it is called, we are still going to have to describe it, including who Zephyrus or Seth was, should either of those names be chosen.
Keep the uniqueness of the name with the uniqueness of the storm.
