NFL commissioner Roger Goodell attempted to summit Washington’s highest volcano Wednesday with Seahawks coach Jim Mora. What would be the most successful accomplishment of a professional sports commissioner?

“NBA commissioner David Stern pronouncing a foreign player’s name without giggling. The Commish was so giddy whenever he came out from backstage at this year’s draft one has to wonder what was going on back there. That NBA All-Access camera would put a smirk on my face faster than you can say Rodrigue Beaubois.”
– Matt Freeland
“Successfully ridding sports of steroids. I really doubt the NBA has any problems with this because basketball is more about quickness and agility than strength and power. If Bud Selig or Roger Goodell somehow found a way that it was literally impossible for athletes to get their hands on steroids, or any other illegal drugs for that matter, that would easily be the best accomplishment.”
- Jeff Engelhardt
“It would take two commissioners to pull off this feat, but I would say cross-sport trading. LeBron James is a free agent next summer, so I think the Cavs should just trade him in February to the Kansas City Chiefs for Tony Gonzalez. James would make people care about the Chiefs again and Gonzalez and Shaq could tackle their way to an NBA championship. Gonzalez also has some basketball skills as he was once pursed by the Miami Heat, so maybe he could hit a few jumpers too.”
