Wes Lawson criticizes parents who bring their children to extremely violent movies in this week's installment of “Dear Hollywood.” What film do you think would be the most inappropriate for a child to see?

“Punisher: War Zone,” hands down. That movie was so absurdly and unnecessarily violent, I was nearly traumatized by viewing it. The first appearance the Punisher makes is running across a table and lopping the head off an old man in a wheel chair, and the whole movie just degenerates from there. I’m not opposed to violence in cinema — not at all — but other movies seem to include elements like motivation and reason. Then again, I didn’t understand why the extremely violent acts were occurring later on because I had fallen asleep and (assumedly) missed all the key plot points. It was probably for the best, though.

Well besides from “adult films” and XXX features, I would have to go with the obvious pick – the Saw series. How many other movie series take glee in showing dismemberment and mutilation in cheap, sensationalist ways. Heck, they aren’t even trying anymore in the series, they’ve been releasing the same film for about three years now, only with different deaths that probably take longer to write than the actual plot. No only will it scar your children with violence, but with amateur writing as well.

The Perfect Score starring NBA never was Darius Miles. It's not fair for young aspiring actors to see such greatness at a young age, knowing they will never amount to his level of perfect thespian.

Wes Lawson

I'd say Bad Santa. If you don't know that Santa Claus isn't real, this movie would be like someone shooting you in the face. And then stealing all your money. Great movie, but I imagine children would run screaming from it.
