Police seek suspects for retail thefts at Wal Mart

Following retail thefts at Wal-Marts in Carbondale and Murphysboro, Jackson County law enforcers are seeking suspects that may have been involved with similar crimes in four states.


Police were called at 3:26 a.m. March 20 to the Wal-Mart at 1450 E. Main St., in Carbondale to investigate the theft of electronic merchandise removed from its packaging, according to a Tuesday news release.


Security footage inside the store captured three suspects exiting the store and driving away in a Jeep Wrangler parked across two parking spaces.


All of the suspects were Caucasian males wearing dark stocking caps. One suspect wore a gray Ecko hooded jacket with a gray shirt and blue jeans. Another was dressed in a dark hooded jacket, blue jeans and wore glasses. The third suspect wore a black hooded jacket a red and black shirt and khaki pants.


The same suspects are thought to be involved in other Wal-Mart thefts in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Missouri, police said.


Police said they encourage anyone with information regarding the incidents to call 618-549-2677 to leave an anonymous tip.
