The Department of Public Safety is investigating an armed robbery of an SIUC student outside Lawson Hall Wednesday night.
A 22-year-old male student was walking between Lawson Hall and Life Science II between 8:45 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. when he said he was pushed to the ground from behind. He told police the suspect put a gun in his face and demanded his money. After throwing his wallet, cell phone and keys on the ground, the suspect picked up the wallet and phone before telling the victim to turn around and start walking west toward the parking lot.
About 20 yards away, the victim heard people talking outside Lawson Hall and ran over to call the police. He described the victim as a black male, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a slim build and light skin. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark purple mask.
Anyone with information about the incident should call the Department of Public Safety at 453-3771.
