Pummeled by pageantry

Pummeled by pageantry
Some people just love the pomp and circumstance surrounding Major League Baseball's All-Star Game and no one can really blame them. The pageantry is part of what makes the event so great. There is the Home Run Derby, the Futures Game, and the Legends Game, where baseball icons play a game of softball alongside movie and pop culture stars.… 1 Comment

SIU athletes hit roadblocks on road to Beijing

Stuart still seeking qualifying standard; Riley, Davis fail to qualify
SIU athletes hit roadblocks on road to Beijing
Olympic qualifying has not quite gone as planned for Saluki athletes. Junior jumper Bianca Stuart took the meet title while trying to qualify for the Bahamian Olympic team, but failed to hit the A-standard that would have put her into the games. Former thrower Brittany Riley finished 11th in the women's hammer throw and former runner Ty-Nica Davis reached the semifinals in the women's 800-meter run. All hope for Saluki representation at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing is not lost, however.… Post the First Comment

Even though MSU easily took the men's and women's title in 2007-2008 and are the favorites to take this season's titles, she said the Bears are infamous for having signs posted all over their locker rooms that single out SIU.… Post the First Comment

2009 here I come baby!

2009 here I come baby!
Well, thank God that is over. That is what myself and thousands of others are saying across the nation as we collectively lament over a fantasy season that can only be summed up in a simple statement - it is no more. However, I know, just like all those others out there losing sleep over Milton Bradley, that I will be back next year.… Post the First Comment
